It seems like every online service wants you to sign up for monthly or yearly subscriptions. Sure most are only small amounts of money, but if you sign up for multiple services, they can add up quickly to the point where those subscriptions can become expensive. In case you didn't know, a lot of services allow you to share a plan with your friends and family which everyone in your circle can save a little. Here are some popular services that let you share with your family and friends.
Apple. You can share your Apple account with up to six people. When you share your Apple account, you can share your purchases and, 200 Gigabytes of iCloud Storage, even enable the ability to find lost devices. Keep in mind the creator of the Apple account is financially responsible for any purchases, so watch who you share your Apple account with.
Netflix. With even the Basic plan, you can share your account with your family. To keep your movie selection separate, you can create up to five separate profiles for family and friends. The Basic plan doesn't allow you to stream movies on multiple devices at the same time. If you want to allow people to be able to stream movies at the same time as you, you will need to upgrade to Standard or Premium.
Office365. If you have an Office365, you can share Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Publisher, and Access with six devices (Windows, Macintosh, smartphone, or Tablet) or family members as well as 1 Terabyte of storage. One of the common things I see with Office365 accounts is people fail to share them.
Hulu. You can create up to six profiles for your loved ones. You can log into Hulu from an unlimited amount of devices, but you can only simultaneously stream from two at a time.
Spotify. Although you can share your account with others, they can only be invited from the master account and everyone you invite has to live at the same address. How can they tell, trust me they have ways and they do check to see if you're following the rules.
Amazon Prime. You can share a paid account with only your immediate family members with a service called Amazon Household. You're allowed to add up to six people, but only two adults in your household can join and the rest must be children or teens. Unfortunately, you can't share your Prime account with your friends.
YouTube TV. Unfortunately, you won't be able to share this online service with people outside of your household. Google is constantly verifying that you're streaming from the same GPS coordinates to confirm you're following their terms of service.
Steam. For those who aren't familiar, Steam is a streaming gaming service that lets you download games to play on your devices. If you have kids or adults who play video games, this service has a Family Library Sharing option that allows them to share games with up to 5 people.
Before You Start Sharing. I would advise you not to share your online services with people who are outside of your immediate family. At the end of the day, you are financially responsible and liable to anything that occurs on your account. Some of the things that I've seen happen are friends who share your account information with people you don't know, upgrade services on your account that you didn't authorize, and do things to get you banned from the service altogether. I know many of you probably use the same user names and passwords for all of your online accounts. Giving someone access to your online subscription accounts means you could be giving people access to your email, social media accounts, and financial account.
